Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) operate in environments shared by humans and machines; therefore, safety management is of paramount importance. Before deployment, AGVs must undergo comprehensive inspections-covering power systems, braking systems, sensor modules, and communication systems-to ensure all components are functioning correctly. Additionally, the operating area must be properly planned to ensure clear passageways and the absence of significant obstacles, with necessary safety signage and warning zones established.

 

During operation, the AGV's working area must be strictly controlled to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the vehicle's path. When an AGV is operating autonomously, operators must not arbitrarily interfere with its trajectory; any adjustments to tasks or routes must be executed systematically via the control system. For systems involving multi-vehicle coordination, scheduling must be optimized to prevent path conflicts or collision risks between vehicles.

 

Although AGVs are typically equipped with emergency stop devices, anti-collision sensors, and audible-visual alarm systems, operators must still maintain real-time monitoring of the equipment's status. In the event of anomalies-such as sensor failure, navigation deviation, communication loss, or abnormal alarms-operations must be halted immediately, and troubleshooting and remediation must be carried out in accordance with standard procedures; operating the equipment while a fault exists is strictly prohibited.

 

Strict power-off protocols must be observed during maintenance and repair; work should only commence after the equipment has completely ceased operation. Furthermore, regular maintenance and inspections-including battery status checks, wheel wear assessments, and control system upgrades-are essential to ensure the equipment's long-term, stable, and safe operation. Standardized operations and scientific management can effectively mitigate safety risks and enhance the overall reliability of the system.
