The primary configuration of an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) typically comprises the vehicle body structure, drive system, control system, navigation system, and power supply system. These components work in concert to enable the AGV's autonomous operation and material handling tasks. A well-designed system configuration is crucial for ensuring the AGV's stability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

The vehicle body structure serves as the foundation of the AGV and generally consists of a chassis, a load-bearing platform, and an outer shell; its design must balance structural strength with operational flexibility. The chassis is typically constructed from steel or aluminum alloy to ensure adequate load-bearing capacity and durability while meeting operational requirements across various working conditions. Depending on the specific application scenario, the body structure can be designed in various configurations, such as towing, lifting, or under-ride (submerged) types.

The drive and control systems constitute the core of the AGV. The drive system usually comprises drive motors, reduction mechanisms, and a wheel assembly, enabling forward and backward movement as well as steering control. The control system is responsible for receiving navigation data and task commands and for making real-time adjustments to the vehicle's motion; this ensures stable operation along the prescribed path while maintaining responsive performance and robust safety mechanisms.

The navigation and power supply systems are essential for supporting the AGV's autonomous operation. Common navigation technologies include magnetic strip, QR code, laser, and vision-based navigation, all of which facilitate path recognition and positioning. The power supply system typically utilizes lithium or lead-acid batteries and incorporates automatic charging or battery-swapping mechanisms to ensure extended continuous operation and high operational efficiency.
